A red log house in Roslagen
“Tar has been my favorite scent ever since I was a child.” So says Göte Jönsson, who lives in a self-built log house in Roslagen with his wife Ingela. They discovered red tar by chance when they were browsing through the magazine Lantliv and they decided right away.
The house is surrounded by meadows, forests, and notably, red cottages. Here in Roslagen, houses should be red and blend into the Swedish countryside. However, Göte and Ingela are incredibly pleased that they avoided using distemper paint and instead could use paint with a natural ingredient like wood tar for a durable result.
Neighbors and other visitors are also delighted with the results. The fact that the house has a lovely tar smell is the icing on the cake. Are you more interested in what it’s like to build a log house? Read more at Forsgrens log houses.
