Red tarred cabin on Bolmsö
It hardly gets more summery than this. On the island of Bolmsö, Roger Bolin and his family spend many summer days in the newly built cottage on Bolmen’s beach. And in winter, he enjoys ice skating on the lake. Red tern was the perfect choice of color. The construction of the cabin started in 2015 and was then painted with red paint.
– We discovered red pine at a fair and realized that it would be perfect for our cottage, which has an exposed location by the lake. So in the summer of 2016 Roger painted over it with red tar. The painting took about a day and the result was very nice with good coverage, the deep red color and a lovely scent of tar, says Roger Bolin and says that they bought the plot in 2015.
The cottage is 28 square meters and fully equipped with WC, shower, kitchen and four beds in the loft. The site itself has been leased by the family for four generations and previously there was a boathouse here. When the cottage was red tarred, they also painted the wooden deck with light tar oil to avoid any mold growth. That too with very good results.
