Auson Tar Vitriol is an obvious favorite that provides a stylish, semi-opaque and modern color. The warm gray color appears as the natural brown color of the tar fades, and only becomes more beautiful over time. The end result is a beautiful gray color that blends into any environment and preserves the wood. Tar Vitriol is based on Genuine Pine Tar, our Balsam Turpentine and a gray pigment that gives the surface a color similar to iron vitriol. It is ideal for use on wood paneling, facade timber, fences, wooden roofs, pallet collars and other outdoor wooden structures. You can use Tar Vitriol on untreated wood and on wood that has previously been treated with tar or iron vitriol.

As our Tar products penetrate the wood, they take the pigment with them. This results in a durable color that not only protects the wood from the elements, but also preserves its natural beauty. The surface becomes hard-wearing and the color stays where it should – without staining or flaking. Our Tar products counteract drying and cracking by being both water resistant and creating a flexible surface that can move with the natural expansion of the wood. They protect the wood from moisture and temperature changes, reducing the risk of cracking. Our Tar also provides protection against UV radiation that can dry out the wood.

You never need to prime when you choose one of our products. Our tar products give a result that lasts a long time, 6-8 years depending on the application. Maintenance intervals become longer with each coat of tar, as each coat provides increased protection.
